Event description

Description

Last year, was the 50th anniversary of the Detroit 1967 Rebellion.
This year is the 75th anniversary of the 1943 Detroit Race Riot.

Black Scroll Network History & Tours historian Jamon Jordan is pleased to offer a special 3-hour museum tour of significant sites related to both periods of unrest - June 1943 and July 1967.

The tour will address three essential questions:

What happened? How did it happen? What has changed as a result of the 1943 race riot and the 1967 Rebellion?

Black Scroll Network History & Tours educator/historian and Association for the Study of African American Life and History Detroit Chapter president Jamon Jordan will take participants through the history that led to both the 1943 race riot and the 1967 Rebellion and lead a discussion on the legacy of 1943 & 1967 and how that history affects the present day reality in Detroit.

The tour will be aboard at the Detroit Historical Museum.

The Detroit Historical Museum is FREE (donations accepted).

The tour is $15.

Parking in the Detroit Historical Museum has a $9 fee.
