Event description

Description

Thrive are running a residential wellbeing retreat in the beautiful Scottish countryside. This will be a women's only retreat and will focus on promoting wellbeing through improving self care, self esteem and body image.

The retreat is really aimed at all women. Everyone is welcome- particularly those who are feeling burned out, under pressure and not quite good enough. As this is aimed at a more general level, this it is not suitable for those with severe mental health problems. If you are unsure if this retreat will be right for, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss this with you.

During this retreat you will find yourself in a beautiful, peaceful location where you can allow yourself to switch off from your day to day life and focus on yourself.

Four workshops will be offered over the weekend, all run by Dr Kari Deas, Clinical Psychologist and facilitated by other experienced professionals. The workshops will have the overall aim of helping you to accept yourself. Dr Deas will walk you through the process of understanding how you feel about yourself, towards an accepting and compassionate view of who you are- your appearance, body, personality and abilities. The expectation is that you will have an enjoyable, relaxing time but learn about yourself at the same time. This will be done in a nurturing and caring way and you will not be made to do anything you would be uncomfortable with (e.g. to speak in front of groups).

Alongside the workshops, you will also have guided meditation sessions; these will encourage you to become more aware and more accepting while supporting your mind to be calm and relaxed over the weekend.

As part of the service, you will leave with material to help you continue what you have learned on the retreat and meditation recordings for you to practice at home.

As this weekend is all about self care and nurturing yourself, you will be well fed with delicious, nourishing, home made food over the weekend. All food will be provided; Fri and Sat evening meals, Sat and Sun breakfast and lunch. Snacks and refreshments will be on offer at all times. The food will be vegetarian and if you have other nutritional requests (e.g. gluten free or vegan) we will happily accommodate. As this is a wellbeing retreat, no alcohol will be on offer and we kindly ask that you give your body and mind a rest from alcohol over this weekend.

Accommodation is offered as part of this retreat. It is expected that being together with other women with shared experiences will be a powerful part of this retreat. The accommodation is comfortable and offers everything you need. The venue is a 'bunkhouse' which is a converted farm house and all rooms are shared, with a maximum of 8 and minimum of 4 sharing in each room. There are many shared bathrooms throughout the property at least one accessed from each bedroom. There is also a lounge and kitchen space where residents will be able to relax during the down time and eat at meal times, alongside plenty of beautiful outdoor space.

The retreat is being held in the beautiful picturesque Scottish town of Aberfeldy. The location was picked due to it's beauty and tranquillity, alongside it being a manageable 1.5 hour drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is possible to arrive by public transport, with Dunkeld being the closest train station. Transfers from the Dunkeld to the venue can be arranged at additional cost.

The price of the weekend is £275. This includes all workshops, accommodation and food. The only additional cost is your travel arrangements.
