Event description

Description

Join us for this half-day workshop focused on how to transform schools into safe and welcoming places for LGBTQ+ youth in Kansas. The activities focus on how school, district, local, state and federal laws and policies impact the school experiences of LGBTQ+ youth, and what that means for school professionals' practice. The workshop is aimed at administrators and school board members who work in Kansas, but others are welcome to attend. The workshop presenters include trained facilitators, LGBTQ+ students, lawyers familiar with LGBTQ+ law, and educators who have led the way in crafting and implementing affirming policies for LGBTQ+ youth. You will leave the workshop with a clearer understanding of what current policies mean, and where we are headed, as well as a deeper understanding of the LGBTQ+ culture and experience in the Kansas City metro area.
