Description

This training is the ideal starting place for new parent educators as well as those with experience who are new to Mark Perlman's Nurturing Fathers curriculum. Specific topics include: behavior management, personal power, effective communication, family support principles, and the building of a positive self-concept. The training also addresses Nurturing Fathers’ Program implementation and the whys and hows of father engagement.

Training Objectives     

Through a mix of small and large group discussions, participatory lecture, interactive exercises, and group role-play activities, participants will:

• gain understanding in the Philosophy of Nurturing Programs

• learn the steps for implementing the Nurturing Fathers’ Program

• learn effective methods for increasing positive parenting and enhancing relationships

• learn a strength-based approach to working with fathers

• increase their readiness to facilitate the Nurturing Fathers’ Program

This training is intended for Department of Children and Families (DCF) staff, professionals who work at Massachusetts Family Resource Centers (FRCs) or Community Connections programs, and other family support providers who intend to collaborate with one or more of the above.

A light breakfast and nurturing lunch will be provided each day.
