Description

We warmly invite you to “Threads of Change: Connecting our Stories,” an event hosted by Story Tapestries in collaboration with Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union! Come be part of a dialogue of stories of hope, interacting with artists, educators, business owners, caretakers and like-minded community members who are actively serving others and changing lives.

The first 15min is for you to connect with great leaders in our community over light refreshments, then at 5:45pm Story Tapestries’ collaborators will share some shining stories highlighting the impact of local programs.

Story Tapestries is a world-class network of artists, educators, business and community members who are committed to bringing people together and empowering children and adults - especially those who struggle the most. At Threads of Change, you will hear awesome stories of empowerment like this:

"Once a week for 5 weeks, I brought Poetry to Latin American Youth Center in Silver Spring...These students have incredible lives and their poems channel deep personal insight and reflection. We listened to each other's stories. Week by week students opened up...I feel like their experiences and imaginations are open and this arts program at Latin American Youth Center taps into these student's fiercest selves, full of empathy and poetic power."

  • Regie Cabico, reflections from a 5-week program at LAYC in Spring 2017

Here is a short VIDEO to get to know ST and the impact of our programs!

Story Tapestries uses the power of the Arts woven with STEM, Literacy, Social Development, and other strategies to educate and empower communities to develop blueprints for success. Since becoming a 501c3 nonprofit in 2010, Story Tapestries has collaborated with over 500,000 educators, leaders, and families to use the arts as a means to:

  • Directly impact children

  • Train and coach adults

  • Develop parents’ understanding and ability to engage in their children’s lives

  • Provide safe spaces for dialogue and healing

  • Raise awareness of social issues

If you connect with this vision, it is my hope you’ll join us on Feb. 27th to enjoy refreshments and conversation. We’ll look forward to seeing you there!
