Those Faces, These Places art show is underway at Jacaranda Trace, 2nd floor Parlor of Cadbury Commons building, 3600 William Penn Way, Venice, FL. The show continues until Jan 14, 2017 and is free of charge.
Venice artist, Jo-Ann Golenia, shows her interpretive portraits, a veiled look into our human sensitivities. Also on view are her "Plant Places," a look into the world around us through a speculative eye.
Born in New England, Jo-Ann was always outside, summer and winter. Living where she could walk in beautiful forests, near a childhood fishing pond, the nature around her was her constant companion.
This early love of nature easily led toward a BS and MS in biology. While teaching for 16 years, art was always a constant. Now, living in Florida, she works in watercolor and acrylic and has had several group and solo shows and won local, national and international awards for her work.
In her current portrait series, she hopes to suggest thoughts and strong feelings rather than specific people. Her landscapes too, are meant to show the love of plants and "plant places" - her early life walking in the woods.
