Thollem McDonas - piano and Fender Rhodes
Scott Amendola - drums
Thollem travels perpetually as a pianist, vocalist, collaborator
and facilitator. His musical experiences are extremely diverse
and his ever expanding variety of approaches to making music
result in dramatically new and different outcomes. He plays in
punk clubs, museums, concert halls and riots. He works regularly
with film makers, dancers, poets and painters as well as a wide
array of divergent musicians and communities. He is the founding
director of Estamos Ensemble, a Mexican-American cross-border
ensemble for musical exchange, as well as lead singer of Tsigoti,
a socio-politically charged avant-punk band among many other
groups and collaborations.
“Thollem’s playing is a churning black caldera bespattered with beautiful madness. It seems beyond the capacity of one human being to contain so much densely-packed creative energy.” - Tom Djll,Signal To Noise
While rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area scene, Scott Amendola has woven a dense and far-reaching web of bandstand relationships that tie him to influential artists in jazz, blues, rock and new music. A potent creative catalyst, the Berkeley-based drummer become the nexus for a disparate community of musicians stretching from Los Angeles and Seattle to Chicago and New York. Whatever the context, Amendola possesses a gift for twisting musical genres in unexpected directions.
"The results are consistently engaging, both emotionally and intellectually, the product of a fertile and inventive musical imagination." - Don Heckman, LA Times
