About this event

Hammond native, Roland G. Parrish, has created a documentary telling the story of Annie Burns-Hicks and how her becoming the first black school teacher in Hammond, Indiana, ignited the community and created hope for generations to follow.

The public is invited to the free screening of the documentary on April 3 and an opportunity to meet Annie Burns-Hicks and several other "First Blacks of Hammond."
