Description

This month, Upper Manhattan becomes the stage for This Sinking Island, a new family inclusive play created by The Anthropologists that explores the stories of climate refugees from around the world and imagines the future of Manhattan. Set in a landscape of repurposed material, this family inclusive play uses movement and live music with a running time of approximately 35 minutes. There is additional pre- and post-show programming. This Sinking Island is made possible in part with funding from the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation and administered by LMCC. Six free performances will be presented in Upper Manhattan:

Sunday, 10/28 at 2PM - Inwood Library (4790 Broadway)

The full cast includes: Kimberly Gomez (Somos New York, People’s Theatre Project), Katherine O’Sullivan* (Native Son, Classical Theatre of Harlem), Arisael Rivera* (Bamboo in Bushwick, Working Theater) and Arden Winant* (Much Ado About Nothing, Barefoot Shakespeare). Directed by Melissa Moschitto, the play features original music by Mariah Freda. Costumes and set, created largely from recycled or repurposed materials, is by Visual Designer Irina Kuraeva. The production team includes Dara Epstein (Project Manager + Community Engagement Coordinator) and Tiffany McCue (Stage Manager).
