Event description

Description

There's hardly a block in Brooklyn that hasn't been touched by gentrification -- it's arguably the defining issue of contemporary New York. But beyond mason jar cocktails and glass high rises, the real effects of gentrification are decidedly human. What happens when newcomers move to Kings County and folks from wildly different classes, races and ages mix together? These are the questions posed by the show Brooklynification, an uncomtortable comedy about a changing Brooklyn and its discontents.

With the second season of Brooklynification premiering on May 7th, BRIC TV is hosting a special panel discussion event with the creators of the show to talk about how comedy is uniquely positioned to examine the complex racial and economic politics of gentrification.

Speakers will consist of the production team behind Brooklynification

  • Chris Poindexter

  • Keith Miller

  • Joyce Mishaan

Host: Tim Barnes (comedian, web producer for Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas, host of It's All True! podcast)

Format will be Q&A style event in which our esteemed host will ask the creators about their inspiration and process for creating the series.

***Event will be held in the Artist Studio!
