In the buzz and glare of Silicon Valley, how long can a golden child thrive? New York Times technology reporter Mike Isaac has taken on that question, thoroughly probing the roots and foibles of Uber for his new book, Super Pumped: the Battle for Uber. Uber's ride-sharing app blasted onto the scene, upending the established world of taxis and public transit. But it was quickly tainted with the spectacular disgrace of founder Travis Kalanick.

The building and rebuilding of Uber make for a tale that's already being compared to John Carreyrou's Bad Blood.
