About Mira Armij Gill:
A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mira Armij Gill is of East-Indian descent. She graduated from The Juilliard School with her BM and MM, where she had the privilege of completing her Bachelor’s degree as one of three students of the late John Browning. While at Juilliard, Ms. Gill won the Artist’s International Young Artist Piano Award which resulted in her New York debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. In addition Ms. Gill was awarded two teaching fellowships at Juilliard during her Master's studies. She also studied at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow, Russia, and She has also won top prizes across the country including Second Place in the Joanna Hodges International Brahms Competition. Ms Gill has performed in Alice Tully Hall in their "Wednesday's at One" Series. She was presented in recital as Mu Phi Epsilon's Distinguished Artist of 2012 in New York at Tenri Cultural Institute. And has also performed in Moscow the Weiner Saal in Salzburg, and the Herzlich Willkommen Konzertsaal in Weyer, Austria. Ms. Gill has given recitals by special invitation for Consul General of India, Hon. Pramathesh Rath, and for H.R.H. Crown Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg at the Bi-annual Gala organized by the Luxembourg-American Chamber of Commerce. Additionally she has given concerts annually in the Temple Square Concert Series and the Gina Bachauer “Concerts Around the Town” in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ms. Gill also gave the inaugural classical piano con recital at the Consulate General of India for the farewell event for Hon. Pramathesh Rath in New York was the featured cover story for the Urban Indian and was written up in Desi Talk. She gives regular concerts in New York and New Jersey, including Steinway Hall and the”Live Sounds” Concert Series and various venues in Maine and Canada.
About the Series
Third Street's Live Sounds faculty concert series is free and open to the public on select Fridays at 7:00 p.m. in the Anna-Maria Kellen Concert Hall at Third Street Music School (235 East 11th Street).
The series presents a wide range of solo and collaborative performances highlighting many genres, instrumentation, and composers and spotlights the world-class professional teaching artists at Third Street.
Most concerts are also live streamed free at www.thirdstreet.nyc at the performance times
