Please join us to learn more about the Ohio Third Frontier, its impact on the Dayton Region and how renewal of the Third Frontier can benefit your business.  We invite you to stay for a reception with our guest speakers after the program.

Issue 1 is a statewide ballot measure on the May 4 primary ballot that will renew and continue Ohio’s most successful economic development and jobs creation program, the Ohio Third Frontier initiative. A visionary public-private partnership created in 2002 with bipartisan leadership and support, Third Frontier makes targeted state investments in promising technologies, research and entrepreneurs – and builds new companies, supports business expansions and creates new jobs.

The current funding mechanism for Third Frontier, approved by Ohio voters in 2005, expires in 2012. A “YES” vote on Issue 1 will authorize $700 million in bonds to extend funding for this successful program for another four years, through 2016. Issue 1 will not raise taxes.

Why Support Issue 1?

  •   Jobs for Ohioans! Issue 1 will renew and continue a program that independent analysis has confirmed has already helped launch more than 571 new companies, supported expansion of many existing businesses, and created more than 48,000 new jobs – while generating $6.6 billion in economic activity in communities across Ohio. A “YES” vote on Issue 1 will build on that success and bring even more new companies and business expansions – and tens of thousands more jobs – to Ohio.
  • Better Future for Ohio! Issue 1 will promote economic growth in communities across Ohio. By continuing state investment in promising technologies, research and entrepreneurs, Issue 1 will create new high-tech companies while also supporting the expansion of existing companies in areas such as manufacturing, agriculture, biomedicine and renewable energy. These investments not only will create jobs, but also will produce medical advances, innovative products and new technologies that will improve Ohioans’ quality of life.
  • Broad-Based Bipartisan Support! Issue 1 has strong bipartisan support, including both candidates for Governor and the vast majority of both Democrats and Republicans in the Ohio General Assembly, as well as support from individuals and organizations in all regions of Ohio and representing most major sectors of the state’s economy.
