Event description

Description

Join us for our Third Annual IBC Patient Forum! All are welcome-patients, families, friends, and caregivers.

You'll have the opportunity to hear from Dana-Farber's IBC Program specialists, interact with other IBC patients and caregivers, and ask questions of our panel of experts. Through educational programs like the IBC Patient Forum, we hope to further our understanding of IBC and create a supportive and resilient community.

The program includes a light breakfast, three presentations, lunch and networking, and a Q&A panel. This year, we'll also offer genetic testing for anyone interested and an optional support group session immediatly following the forum.

Keynote Speakers:

  • Inherited Genetics of Inflammatory Breast Cancer, Huma Rana, MD

  • Sexual Health after an IBC Diagnosis: What All Women Need to Know, Sharon Bober, PhD

  • IBC Research Updates, Beth Overmoyer, MD, FACP; IBC Director

Break-Out Session: Julie L. Salinger, MSW, LICSW will facilitate a support group focused on issues surrounding IBC. The support group is optional and everyone is invited to attend. It will take place from 1 to 2pm. Please indicate if you're interested in attending the break-out session when you register.

Genetic Testing Fair: Clinical genetic testing will be offered after the forum for anyone interested in participating. Genetic counselors, Jill Stopfer, MS, LCGC and Kathy Schneider, LCGC, will be facilitating. If you anticipate utilizing this service, please email geneticsfair@dfci.harvard.edu in advance. There is a registration process that needs to be completed in order for testing to run smoothly the day of the event. We want to mention that there is $250 self-pay cost for any genetic test not covered by insurance. Please address any insurance questions to the email listed above.
