Summer 2019 Tier 2 Collaborative Problem Solving® Training
Implementing the CPS approach August 7- August 9, 2019 Somerville, MA
Think:Kids invites educators, residential program staff, mental health clinicians, parents and anyone who is living with or helping kids with challenging behavior to learn more about Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), the revolutionary, evidence-based approach for helping children develop the skills they need to manage their behavior. We are pleased to note that Dr. Ablon, founder of Think:Kids - the home of Collaborative Problem Solving- will be leading this training.
The Tier II training focuses on the assessment, planning and intervention components of the CPS approach.
This 2 ½ day symposium also provides CPS practitioners a community and a sounding board to troubleshoot issues and plan dynamic initiatives to address challenging behavior in the children we seek to support.
This intensive training is the next step in the pathway to fully integrating the CPS model. Professional development credits and group discounts are available.
Please note: participants must have completed the Tier I training more than 6 months prior to the start of Tier II.
During this interactive training you will:
Practice strategies for implementing the CPS approach in the most challenging situations
Learn how to teach the model to others
Address common resistances and a lack of "buy-in"
Understand when and how to use relational vs. didactic skills training
Additional learning includes:
The neurobiology underlying the Plan B approach
Fostering self-regulation through the relational process Plan B
Addressing systemic issues such as leadership during culture change
Enhancing communication structures
Integrating behavioral approaches and therapeutic models
Opportunities for continued learning and networking
Prerequisite: A 1-day Think:Kids Introductory Training or the online Think:Kids Introductory Training, and the 2 1/2 day Think:Kids Intensive Tier 1 Training.
*Please note: Tier 1 and Tier 2 cannot be taken during the same summer or winter. A minimum of six months is required between Tier 1 and Tier 2 training so that participants have an opportunity to apply and practice what they learn.

Think:Kids teaches a revolutionary, evidence-based approach for helping children with behavioral challenges. Through training, support and clinical services, we promote the understanding that challenging kids lack the skill, not the will, to behave well – specifically skills related to problem solving, flexibility and frustration tolerance. Unlike traditional models of discipline, our Collaborative Problem Solving approach avoids the use of power, control and motivational procedures and instead focuses on teaching kids the skills they need to succeed. #KidsdoWellifTheyCan
