Event description

Description

The University of Toronto Philosophy Course Union presents Thinking Toward Action: 2019 Underrepresented Philosophy Conference. This year's conference bridges disciplines to create an invested dialogue on the state of knowledge in higher learning and ethics in morally precarious times. We encourage students from all disciplines to attend and engage with our speakers.

KEYNOTE: Professor Regina Rini (York University)
Regina Rini is the Canada Research Chair in Philosophy of Moral and Social Cognition at the York University. Her research resides at the intersections of moral philosophy, psychology, and political epistemology. Her talk is entitled "Microaggression and forward-looking moral responsibility."

PANEL: What counts as 'knowledge'? How do we bring underrepresented knowledge to academic debate? How do we create better environments for those working outside the canon? Join us for a panel discussion with Professor Shannon Dea (Waterloo), Dr. Ahmed Ilmi (UofT), C. Dalrymple-Fraser. Moderated by Howard Williams (UofT).

Refreshments will be provided, along with vegan and vegetarian hors d'oeuvres at the post-conference reception.

Presenting sponsors: University of Toronto Philosophy Department & Victoria University in the University of Toronto

Thank you to Chair Arthur Ripstein, Dean Kelley Castle, Meghan Junke, Eric Correia.
