Event description

Description

How is the role of craft in our cities changing – and how can we create spaces to support it? Join architecture collective Assemble and editorial platform Thinking City to hear from a range of speakers exploring the topic, from the positive use of craft in urban and community development, to the challenges and opportunities for crafts practitioners and groups in need of makerspaces.

This evening panel discussion at Sugarhouse Studios is part of London Craft Week 2019 and will be participatory and open to all, attempting to take an interdisciplinary approach to craft to explore its relationship to contemporary cities and its future.

Speakers include:

  • Francesca Perry, editor, Thinking City (Chair)

  • Mat Leung, Assemble

  • Catherine Greig, director, make:good

  • Annie Warburton, CEO, Cockpit Arts

  • Ella Bulley, designer (and Design Museum's Designer in Residence 2018)

This talk is running in addition to the Open Studios event at Sugarhouse Studios for London Craft Week 2019, Fri 10 – Sat 11 May, 10am-4pm. Come along to explore work from a diverse range of practitioners at Sugarhouse, a creative workspace and wood workshop run by Assemble in partnership with Workshop East.
