Event Details

Speaker:

Anders Janmyr, Jayway

Anders is a developer since about twenty years.
He loves writing code but, also talking and writing about it.
Anders has worked in many different domains, from databases and servers to mobile phones and robots, and has experience with small large and large scale architectures.
He has a wide experience of programming languages C, Smalltalk, Java, C#, Haskell, Lisp, Ruby and Javascript among others.
The last years he has spent mainly with Ruby and Javascript. He loves the combination of dynamic languages and test-driven development since it gives him a short feedback loop and peace of mind.

Subjects:

Evented Programming with Node.js

"Node.js is one of the hottest things in programming right now.

What is it and why is it hot ?

In this presentation you will learn about asynchronous or event-driven programming in Node.

I will show you tools for testing, debugging and deployment. You will get an overview of some

popular frameworks. And, I will demonstrate techniques for dealing with the problems that arise

with asynchronous programming.

Get ready for the Javascript on the server!"

Rationality is Overrated

"As programmers we consider ourselves to be rational human beings. We are in control of our computers and other people may be irrational but we are certainly not! But, is this really the case?.

In this presentation I will make the case that we are not only irrational in some cases, but almost all the time. The human mind ismuch more effective when it is making decisions without thinking consciously!

Facts are useful; they give the conscious mind something to do while the emotions decide what’s true! --Dale Dauten"

This presentation will give you a fresh view on how to make the most out of your brain."
