ThingsCon Salon Cologne (July 2017)
Date and time
Description
ThingsCon returns to Cologne with the second edition of the Salon
The Thingscon Salon is a regular event organised by the Thingscon team. We are creating a space for the exploration of a responsible, human-centric IoT, a platform for the presentation of different approaches and projects and an opportunity for discussion.
Our Speakers
Andrea Krajewski (@krajewski) is an industrial designer, speaker and blogger. Since 25 years she is fascinated by the changing role of design in innovation processes. In 1994 she co-founded 360° - a design agency with an interdisciplinary approach, designing products at the border of digital and analogue media. In 2002 she was appointed as a professor for the Design of Interactive Media Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt. Here she established the interdisciplinary study course Interactive Media Design the UX-Lab and the THINGS-Lab – the current centres of her research.
Matt Patterson (@fidothe) is a sometime designer, developer and CTO interested how products get made - by people, process, and technology. Most recently, he was CTO of Berlin-based streaming-media startup tape.tv. He's been poking at what industrial production and design might look like if access to 3D printing, CAM equipment like CNC mills, and laser cutters continues to spread, and is wondering what happens when the throw-away software culture of 'traditional' tech startups has to co-exist with the 50-year operational service of the 'traditional' built environment.
In addition to two great talks, this time we will have even more goodness for you: including the very first publication of ThingsCon on The State of a responsible IoT - and the screening of our 20-min documentary View Source: ThingsCon goes Shenzhen - a peek behind he story of our things!
We are very happy to be hosted by futurest this time, who will also share a little something about the how and why of their work.
We look forward to seeing you there!
