Description

ThingsCon fosters the creation of a responsible, human-centric Internet of Things (IoT)

The Thingscon Salon is a regular event to help create a space for the exploration of a responsible, human-centric IoT, a platform for the presentation of different approaches and projects, and an opportunity for discussion. Let's explore how to build the next generation of the Internet of Things, an IoT that works for everyone.

The Internet of Things (IoT) consists largely of black boxes. As we invite more and more connected devices into our lives, we need to make sure we can trust them. This installment of the ThingsCon Salon series explores trust & tech, specifically the Trustable Tech Mark, ThingsCon's trustmark for IoT initiative.

The speakers:

Jason Schultz

Jason M. Schultz is a Professor of Clinical Law, Director of NYU's Technology Law & Policy Clinic, and Co-Director of the Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy. His clinical projects, research, and writing primarily focus on the ongoing struggles to balance traditional areas of law such as intellectual property and privacy with the public interest in free expression, access to knowledge, civil rights, and innovation in light of new technologies and the challenges they pose. During the 2016-2017 academic year, Professor Schultz was on leave to work at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where he served as Senior Advisor on Innovation and Intellectual Property to U.S. Chief Technology Officer Megan Smith. Jason is a Mozilla Tech Policy Fellow.
