This course is for international postgraduate researchers in Science, Medicine and Engineering and will be delivered by experienced tutors of Academic English from Birmingham International Academy (BIA). If you are not sure whether this is the appropriate focus for your field, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for advice and guidance.
The course consists of 5 individual sessions that will take you through the main stages of thesis writing: Structure & introductions, Literature Review, Methods, Results & Discussion, Conclusion & Abstract. Please note that this is a repeat of sessions run in 2015/16. You do not have to attend all sessions. Each session is stand-alone and may be attended independently. There is an accompanying Canvas course where materials and tasks are published. You may self-enrol here: https://canvas.bham.ac.uk/enroll/8AT98B
The results and discussion sections of a science-based thesis are where most writers will want to excel. We will look at a variety of ways of incorporating results and findings into a longer thesis. In this session you will also learn a little about the language of claims and recommendations.
