Course Description:
This two-day course will focus on the critical thinking skills that therapists must use to help children achieve academic success. Functional routines essential to academic routines will be identified. The essential elements for performance for each routine will be identified, the tasks will be broken down into essential components, and strategies to produce measurable changes in children will be presented. Through a combination of didactic and laboratory learning, we will use the sensory, motor, and cognitive foundations of the neurodevelopmental, sensory integrative and motor learning theoretical frameworks to build classroom based intervention. Evidence demonstrates that contextual learning in the classroom and repetition are foundational to academic success.
