Therapy Dog Open House - March 21st.
Whether you are currently a therapy dog team or wondering if your dog has what it takes, this Open House is for you.
Therapy dogs are working in more and more places - hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, nursing facilities, libraries public schools, and colleges. Come learn how you and your dog can make a difference.
Leaders in the therapy dog community will discuss
- Is Your Dog a Good Candidate? Jane Kopelman of All About Dogs and consultant to Memorial Sloan Kettering's Caring Canine Program.
- New Opportunities for Therapy Dog Work with Youth Audrey Hendler, Executive Director of A Fair Shake for Youth describes an innovative program with underserved New York City school kids.
- How to Become Registered. Moira Mahaney of the ASPCA, Community Partner of Pet Partners, describes the training and registration process as well as the support therapy dog teams receive as volunteers.
Meet current therapy dog teams and hear about their experiences. Over 20 organizations seeking volunteer teams will be on hand to talk about their volunteer opportunities.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
All ages are welcome. You must bring ID to pesent to lobby security.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Do NOT bring your dog. This is a humans only event.
