Theodore B. Olson: Reflecting on Prop 8
Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (PDT)
Selected by Time magazine in 2010 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, Olson is one of the nation's premier appellate and U.S. Supreme Court advocates. He has argued 58 cases in the Supreme Court (prevailing in over 75 percent of those arguments) and has been at the forefront of groundbreaking litigation, including Bush v. Gore and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. In 2009, Olson teamed up with his former adversary David Boies to challenge California’s Prop. 8 in federal court. While the future of Prop. 8 and marriage equality remains uncertain as the U.S. Supreme Court decides to hear the case, Olson will discuss his experience challenging the initiative in federal court and what lies ahead.
