About this Event

Rolling in 2020! Thank you everyone who came by to Tribe Theory for the December session. We are sending this description late this month, and we understand that this month’s session is coming up very soon, but we hope that you’ll be able to make it!

//Description

“Nothing in life is as important as you think it is, when you are thinking it.” Thinking, Fast and Slow, is a meaty memoir of psychologist Daniel Kahneman’s life’s work that describes countless such cognitive quirks – but don't imagine that reading it will cure your irrationality. "It's not a case of: 'Read this book and then you'll think differently,'" he says. "I've written this book, and I don't think differently."

In the book, the psychologist resolves thinking into two systems. One is intuitive and emotionally inflected, which makes it fast and a generally effective "machine for jumping to conclusions". The second is slow and rational, offering a means to check the responses made by the first system, and to understand the world more rigorously than intuition allows. However, this second system is not only slow but lazy. It's inclined to go along with whatever the first one suggests.

**Note from the Moderators: This is not a self-help book, but an approach to psychology that gets rid of heart-sinking tables and formulae in favour of short, intriguing questions that elegantly illustrate the ways our intuitions mislead us.

P.S. If you have not had the chance to read the book, please read the summaries provided so you have a basic idea of the themes and some key points.

//About Zoe and Sneha

This book club was made as a result of 2 strangers wanting to discuss books similar to Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. Both felt that the books had resonated with them in different ways, which they found fascinating and intriguing. So, they decided to start a Book Club on unconventional books where everyone can discuss about!

It’s a great place to meet like-minded people, who enjoy Mark Manson’s style of speaking and quite possible drop plenty of F-bombs of their own. So, if you are looking to follow or are already following the general theme of not giving a f*ck in your life, head over to Tribe Theory!
