Event description

Description

A one-day workshop, to cover the basics of performance technique for poets wishing to work on their stage presence, vocal tone, character work and overall performance confidence. What skills do theatre performers rely on in solo work? How can we best incorporate them into performance poetry? How can we inhabit our characters and bring them to life? What role are we asking an audience to play in our work? How can we create different atmospheres on stage?

Apples and Snakes are working with Common Ground Theatre to put together this taster session for poets wishing to develop and hone their performance poetry skills, with a focus on bringing to life character in their texts. Please bring a piece of writing or a short section that has character voices within it if you have one. If not, don’t worry, there will be a short writing session structured into the day to create one.
