Description

UC Riverside faculty, staff, and graduate students are invited to hear one of the world's leading scholar's on academic writing, Helen Sword, in an afternoon presentation hosted by University Communications. Sword is an award-winning teacher, and poet who has published widely on modernist literature, higher education pedagogy, digital poetics, and academic writing. Her books include "Air & Light & Time & Space: How Successful Academics Write," "Stylish Academic Writing," and "A Writer's Diet."

Born and raised in Southern California, she received her PhD in Comparative Literature from Princeton University and is now Professor and Director of the Centre for Learning and Research in Higher Education at the University of Auckland. Her popular academic writing workshops for faculty and doctoral students have taken her to more than 60 universities and conferences in 17 countries across North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australasia.

Light refreshments will be served. There are 150 seats, and attendance is first-come, first-served.
