NOTE: IF YOU ARRIVE LATE, YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED A SEAT.

Join us for a special Delaware Writers Studio workshop dedicated to the dreaded “writer’s block.” Local poet Shannon Connor Winward, creative non-fiction writer Kathy Maas, and fiction writer Tery Griffin will lead a panel and roundtable discussion on how to successfully navigate creative blocks, featuring stories of personal experience, tried-and-true coping strategies, and unique prompts to get the creative juices flowing.

She maintained a baseball blog for several years, and is now working on the launch of a humorous blog about landlording/house renovation. She thanks her dad for making her attend Toastmasters with him eons ago, else she wouldn’t have the nerve to be on this panel.

In 2017, Kathy was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship in Creative Nonfiction from the Delaware Division of the Arts.

Tery Griffin holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, where she won a Hopwood Major Short Fiction Award, and was a Finalist in both Major Essay and Major Playwriting. Before Michigan, she studied English/Creative Writing at Trinity College in Connecticut, where she won a number of awards for fiction and creative non-fiction.

Her fiction recently appeared in the anthologies 50 Over 50 and Currents: Selected Poetry & Prose from the 2014 Cape Henlopen Retreat Writers, and has been published in several literary journals.

In 2010, Tery was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship in Fiction, from the Delaware Division of the Arts. She was chosen as a fiction fellow for the Cape Henlopen Writers’ Retreat, sponsored by the Delaware Division of the Arts and the Delaware State Arts Council, in both 2008 and 2014. She has also been a Resident Artist at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, supported by a grant from the Mid-Atlantic Writers Association.
