Yakima, Walla Walla, Horse Heaven Hills & Beyond
Washington shares the same latitude as France's premiere wine regions and, with each passing year, the state's finest winemakers are creating more and more world-class wines.
German and Italian immigrants began producing wine in Washington in the mid-nineteenth century. Today, Washington is our nation's second-largest wine-producer and the growing number of AVA's are increasing in diversity.
Taking on Bordeaux
Once known for cool-weather whites like Riesling, Washington is now becoming a major player in Bordeaux-style reds including Cabernet, Syrah, Grenache and Merlot. More than 80 grape varieties are harvested annually.
