Event Details

"Woman! Up YOUR standards, so we can up OUR mighty race!"
A full-day interactive self-development conference
unlike anything Indianapolis has ever seen.

The WOMAN-up! conference focuses on developing healthy relationships with Black women. It is clearly understood that when communities have healthy women, the families and overall communities do well. The WOMAN-up! conference will help Black women and the men who love us to get back to a healthier state of mind, so that we can help create better social environments for our children and families.

Experience breakthroughs, overcome obstacles and build bonds like never before!

Six (6) presenters, FIVE (5) interactive classes, a banquet dinner with live band, door prizes and much... much... more!

PROFESSOR GRIFF, an internationally renowned educator, writer, producer, musician, platinum recording/spoken word artist, lecturer, founding member of the pioneering and revolutionary hip hop group Public Enemy, will conduct a presentation on the brainwashing of our children and sign copies of his new book: The Psychological Covert War on Hip Hop.

Sis. Haiwa Muhammad, a very talented artist and therapist, will guide us through arth thearpy. We will explore images and perceptions of "Black women and beauty." We will also address some deep-seeded "issues" many of us have with finding the ability to "like" Black women.

Baba Achebe Turner, a brilliant historian, artist and poet, will teach the historical relevance of Black women ancient to present. He will uncover many important social roles that are often taken for granted or simply ommited from "commonly taught" history.

Sis. Faizah Mawusi, director of Living Wells Urban Farm, will teach us practical ways to make ends meet and live cooperatively while trying to survive these tough economic times.

Bro. Bilal Sankofa (a high demand behavior coach out of Phoenix, AZ) and Sis. LeTava Mabilijengo (a home school educator and social justice writer) will teach the male/female dynamics of building a "power couple." Learn the ingredients that make up such a team and make your way to the top in all of your ambitions.
