Description

Evénement co-organisé par les alumni de McGill, UQAM, Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, HEC Montréal, Laval, University of Toronto, Western, Waterloo, Concordia, Queen's et University of British Columbia.

Join fellow Canadian university alumni in France for an enchanting outdoor evening performance of William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale at the open-air Théâtre de Verdure du Jardin Shakespeare, Pré Catelan in the Bois de Boulogne (performance in English with French subtitles).

This year, the Tower Theatre Company we will be returning to Paris to present The Winter's Tale, Shakespeare's mature romance about abuse of power and redeeming love:

How to tell true from false in a world of trickery and disguise?

King Leontes, suspects his wife Hermione of having an affair with his best friend Polixenes, King of Bohemia. He sets in motion a violent and tragic chain of events which culminate in the abandonment of his new born daughter on a foreign shore. Fast forward 16 years to Bohemia where Polixenes's son, Prince Florizel, is in love with an intriguing and beautiful shepherdess. Can the power of their youthful passion awaken forgiveness and hope in hearts frozen in perpetual winter?

Hidden in the Bois de Boulogne, in the Pré Catelan garden, the Théâtre de Verdure du Jardin Shakespeare is one of the most beautiful open-air theatres in the world. The audience sits on a large lawn around among the flowers, trees and plants mentioned in five of Shakespeare’s plays.

Since 1992 the Tower Theatre Company has performed Shakespeare during the first week of June in this delightful setting. Do feel free to bring your picnic and beverages!
