Join us at the historic Loring-Greenough House in Jamaica Plain/Boston as we celebrate the Winter Solstice with evergreen myths, haunting legends of light and entertaining tales accompanied by traditional and original music and song. Master storyteller Diane Edgecomb, accompanied by Celtic harper Margot Chamberlain and multi-instrumentalist Tom Megan, brings to life a variety of ancient tales revealing the deep meanings behind winter holiday traditions. Featured pieces include the beautiful Scandinavian “Legend of the Mistletoe,” humorous English Wassail traditions, and the poignant Greek legend “The Coming of the Days of Peace.” Lovely instrumental melodies, evoking the warmth of the season, round out the event.
Complimentary refreshments, including a traditional Wassail Bowle, will grace an intermission in the Loring-Greenough House’s elegant eighteenth century dining room.
Parking: There is ample non-restricted street parking and a large, free public parking lot off Centre Street between Burroughs and Thomas Streets just a block from the Loring-Greenough House.
Please note: You must select the date you wish to come from the drop down menu to the right before you purchase tickets. If, after you go to the green "Tickets" link, you decide to attend a different date you must return to this page again and re-select the different date. Otherwise the Eventbrite site does not tabulate the number of seats available correctly. Thanks!
