The Nonprofit Moderator: Lauren Mattleman Hoopes
Lauren Mattleman Hoopes has served as Executive Director of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Kansas since 2003. Prior to joining the Foundation, Lauren held a variety of positions with the Kansas University Endowment Association including Development Director for the Schools of Law and Fine Arts and Associate Director of Gift Planning. Prior to that, she practiced law in Kansas City at Stinson, Leonard Street and in Boston at Ropes & Gray.
Currently, Lauren is also a Lecturer in the University of Kansas Honors Program, teaching a class in Philanthropy and the Nonprofit Sector. She previously taught Nonprofit Administration to upper class undergraduates and graduate students in the Helzberg School of Management at Rockhurst University.
She is a graduate of Yale College and NYU Law School and is a former President of the Mid-America Charitable Gift Planners.

The Donor - Sandi White Fried - Mrs. Fried serves on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Community Foundation, she has personally supported through her philanthropy many organizations throughout Kansas City, including: Jewish Family Services, Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City and its Women's Philanthropy, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy and CASA of Johnson and Wyandotte Counties. She will share her journey as a philanthropist, working with her advisors and her charities to set up meaningful long term gifts.
The Attorney - Lori Gregory - Ms. Gregory is the Chairperson of the business, tax, and estate planning department at the Lewis Rice Kansas City office. She has devoted her practice to planning and administering estates and trusts; estate and income taxation; elder law (Medicaid and VA Benefit planning, special needs trusts, guardianships/conservatorships, and nursing home rights); estate and trust litigation; prenuptial agreements; and adoption. She represents family businesses as well as closely held businesses. Lori routinely designs, plans, and implements sophisticated estate tax-saving vehicles such as family partnerships, insurance trusts, charitable trusts, children's/ grandchildren's gifting trusts, sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts, and qualified personal residence trusts. Lori is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and has previously served as President of the Kansas Chapter of NAELA and on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Chapter of NAELA.
The Accountant - William (Dave) Judy - Mr. Judy is the managing owner of Howe & Company, CPA, PC and has been a Certified Public Accountant for 43 years. He specializes in the taxation of small businesses, high net-worth individuals and families, and tax planning, and has special expertise in the taxation of partnerships owning real estate.

In addition to monthly programs, we also sponsor the Annual Building Blocks of a Planned Giving Conference, a half-day program is designed to present information useful to those wanting to know more about planned giving.
