In this two-day event, Dr. Tina Payne Bryson will offer an open to the public evening lecture on Friday and a one-day intensive workshop on Saturday.

Based on the ideas from Tina’s New York Times bestselling books The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline (co-authored with Dan Siegel), this workshop highlights the fascinating link between a child’s neurological development and the way a parent reacts to challenging behavior, providing an effective, compassionate roadmap for dealing with tantrums, tensions, and tears with the brain in mind.  Defining the true meaning of the “D” word (to teach, not to shout or reprimand), Dr. Bryson explains how to reach your child, redirect emotions and behavior, and turn a meltdown into opportunities to integrate and build the brain. Complete with candid parenting stories and a great deal of compassion and humor, this presentation shows you how to work with your child’s developing mind, peacefully resolve conflicts, and inspire happiness and strengthen resilience for everyone in the family.

Dr. Bryson is a psychotherapist at Pediatric and Adolescent Psychology Associates in Arcadia, CA, where she sees children and adolescents, as well as provides parenting consultations. She is the school counselor at St. Mark’s School and is a developmental consultant for various organizations.

In addition to writing and speaking to parents, educators, and professionals, she serves as the director of parenting education and development for the Mindsight Institute, focusing on how to understand relationships in the context of the developing brain. Dr. Bryson earned her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
