Description
Greetings, Whisly & Poetry Salon-istas!
We are SO excited to announce that the fantastic Luivette Resto will be our feature poet for the May Whisky & Poetry Salon! Luivette is the author of the poetry collections Unfinished Portrait (2008), which was a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize, and Ascension (2013). A CantoMundo Fellow, she has taught at Citrus College and Mt. San Antonio College, and has served as a contributing editor for Kweli Journal. She lives with her family in the Los Angeles area, and hosts the monthly reading series La Palabra in Highland Park.
Once again, we'll be at Kai Japanese Roots in DTLA; owner Ben Davidson will taste and educate us on Japanese whiskies from distilleries large and small: Akashi, Iwai, Togouchi, KIKORI, and Suntory. Light appetizers will accompany the tasting.
As always, we look forward to trading you whisky for your words: all guests are asked to bring a poem, original or not, to read amongst fellow aficionados. No mics, no spotlights, no need to memorize.
Come drink poetry with us!
Cheers,
Kim
