The Werckmeister Three Baroque Trio: Bach, Corelli and Handel POSTPONED

All three of these extraordinary, internationally acclaimed musicians perform as principals with Philharmonia Baroque, and each plays with many of the best known Baroque ensembles in the world - Musica Pacifica, American Bach Soloists, the New Esterházy Quartet.... together forming this all-star trio, named for a harmonic tuning system employed by Bach, which they will be using for this concert.
For this afternoon LIVE-STREAMED concert, they will be performing baroque cello sonatas, violin sonatas and harpsichord solos. Bach, Corelli, and Handel are some of the composers they will explore.
The LIVE CONCERT will be recorded, and in addition to the live concert, ticket-holders may watch the performance on-demand whenever and wherever they desire for the ENTIRE MONTH OF DECEMBER following the concert. This means that ticket-holders can enjoy this before, during, and after the performance!
Artist Profiles:
Katherine Kyme has served as concertmaster and violin soloist with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra for over three decades under the direction of Nicholas McGegan. Especially known for her interpretation of classical period repertoire, she led Philharmonia’s string section through a nearly complete cycle of the Haydn Symphonies, two of which were nominated for a Grammy Award in 2012.
Ms. Kyme is a founding member of the American Bach Soloists, and is a featured artist on many of their recordings in including Corelli’s Concerti Grossi Op. 6, and countless Bach Cantatas. In 2017, she co-founded Cantata Collective, an organization dedicated to providing free Bach Cantata performances to Bay Area audiences. She has served in leadership roles with many American chamber orchestras including as concertmaster of Boulder Bach Festival, Musica Angelica, Santa Fe Pro Musica, and Midsummer Mozart; principal second violin of Oregon Bach Festival, Pacific Music Works, and the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival. Katherine played first violin in the Seattle Symphony for three seasons.
Katherine has been a member of three prize-winning string quartets: the Sierra Quartet, the Artaria Quartet, and the New Esterházy Quartet, the latter two as co-founder. With NEQ, she has performed over 150 works, including two complete cycles of the Haydn Quartets.
A sought-after chamber music player, Ms. Kyme has toured and recorded with Agave, Smithsonian Chamber Players, Voices of Music, the Arcadian Academy, Musica Pacifica, Con Gioia, Ensemble Mirable, and the Streicher Trio. Katherine Kyme can be heard on over 100 sound recordings, as well as dozens of music videos mainly with Voices of Music.
Ms. Kyme enjoys teaching musicians of all levels. She is founder and music director of Berkeley Baroque Strings, a 40-member amateur period instrument orchestra. She is celebrating her silver anniversary this year as conductor of the California Youth Symphony’s Junior and Intermediate String Ensembles. At the collegiate level, Katherine has been faculty member at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Cornish Institute of Allied Arts in Seattle, and the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. She taught at the San Francisco Early Music Society’s Baroque Workshop for many summers before co-founding the SFEMS Classical Workshop in 2012.
William Skeen: Grammy-nominated cellist and gambist William Skeen performs as Principal Cellist with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and American Bach Soloists. He has served as Principal Cellist with Musica Angelica (Los Angeles), Portland Baroque Orchestra, Pacific MusicWorks, and Bach Collegium San Diego. William has also appeared as continuo cellist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Opera, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. In addition, William has soloed on the viola da gamba with the Dallas Symphony, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Carmel Bach Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Musica Angelica, Orquestra Nacional de Mexico, and the American Bach Soloists. He is co-founder of the New Esterházy Quartet, whose repertoire includes over 150 string quartets performed exclusively on gut strings. With NEQ, William co-founded the San Francisco Early Music Society's Classical Workshop in 2012. He has served on the faculty on the University of Southern California since 2000.
William currently tours and records with Smithsonian Chamber Players, Musica Pacifica, El Mundo, and Agave Baroque. He is represented on over 80 audio recordings and 30 video recordings.
Katherine Heater: A native of San Francisco, Katherine Heater plays keyboards with Bay Area early music groups such as Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Musica Pacifica and the Voices of Music. She has performed throughout the United States, including with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New Century Chamber Orchestra, the Sun Valley Summer Symphony in Idaho and at the Berkeley Early Music Festival, the Bloomington Early Music Festival, and the Tropical Baroque Festival of Miami. She received an Arts Bachelor from the University of California, Berkeley in music and a Masters of Music in historical performance from Oberlin Conservatory. At the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam Ms. Heater studied harpsichord with Bob van Asperen and fortepiano with Stanley Hoogland. Also an active teacher, Ms. Heater teaches harpsichord at UC Berkeley, piano at The Crowden Music Center, and privately.
