Join WURD Radio in a powerful conversation at The Barnes focused on two of the nation's most ardent activists - Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman.

This WURD Speaks is a collaboration with The Barnes’ First Friday premiere of Ruth Naomi Floyd’s “Frederick Douglass Jazz Works,” a suite of music created to honor the legacy of the famed activist, abolitionist, and statesman.

Panelists:

  • Dr. Erica Armstrong Dunbar, author of “She Came To Slay: The Life and Times of Harriet Tubman”
  • Dr. C. James Trotman, Founding Director, The Frederick Douglass Institute

Moderated by Sara Lomax-Reese, President/CEO, WURD Radio

Immediately following the panel, attendees can participate in The Barnes’ First Friday festivities, including:

  • Ruth Naomi Floyd’s “Frederick Douglass Jazz Works”
