Event Information
About this event
Have you ever thought about the importance of decolonizing your curriculum? Have you ever questioned the curriculum that you are asked to teach? If not, here is your chance to do so!
Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 20th for our next convening, The Village Presents: A Conversation on Decolonizing Curriculum! This virtual event will consist of a dynamic panel discussion led by educators from Philadelphia, Detroit, and New York City. Joining us is Dr. Chezare Warren, Associate Professor of Urban Education and Teacher Education at Michigan State University, Jorge Santos, a New York City Special Education Teacher and Restorative Justice Coordinator, and Calvin Nellum, a Detroit Physics Teacher and Host of the podcast, Teach Simple. You will be challenged to reflect on your experience and teaching practices while developing new approaches to curriculum development. After this panel discussion, you will have an opportunity to engage in a brief workshop-style session where you can think about utilizing some of the tools you will learn about during the panel discussion.
The Village is an exciting national movement started by NYC Men Teach, the Black Male Educators Alliance of Michigan and The Fellowship of Philadelphia to establish a space to create and strengthen a sense of community amongst male educators of color across the nation!
