The Vagina Monologues @ Auraria
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Eve Ensler's play The Vagina Monologues is performed each year as part of the V-Day campaign, a worldwide effort to end violence against women and young girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.
This year, all proceeds from the performances will go to benefit the Pamela McIntyre Marcum Scholarship Fund, which is awarded each academic year to MSU Denver students who have faced incidents of interpersonal violence. This memorial scholarship fund was established in honor of McIntyre-Marcum, a marketing professor at MSU Denver who was murdered by her estranged husband in a parking lot on the Auraria Campus in January of 1987. Colleagues, students, and the Institute for Women's Studies and Services established this scholarship fund in her honor.
