Event description

Description

The Vagina Monologues is an episodic play written by Eve Ensler. It is performed in communities and on college campuses across the nation to raise awareness to issues that affect women. Proceeds from the event are donated to local organizations that support and provide resources for survivors of sexual violence and other forms of gendered violence.

We would like to acknowledge that the Vagina Monologues has been historically been body-centric and transphobic. We have been working hard to be critical of this production by challenging and deconstructing its exclusivity. NOT all womxn-identified folks have vaginas and we want to recognize how this show can be problematic.

The theme for this year's UC Berkeley production of the Vagina Monologues is "Healing as Resistance: Stories of Radical Self-Love." We believe that there are many people who have been denied access to both womanhood and feminism, and that there are many stories that are often not told. We aim to raise awareness for these stories and for issues that affect women and folks who are transgender or non-binary. Proceeds from the show will be donated to Bay Area organizations that provide resources for survivors of sexual violence and other forms of gendered violence. Thank you for supporting our cause!
