About this event

Coming to Melbourne for the third time, The Ultimate Evidence-Based Conference 2021. This three-day conference, from Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of October 2021, will be held at one of Australia's premium facilities, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and is sure to blow your mind. Our presenters are sill being confirmed, but we assure you the calibre of presenters will be unparalleled. 

MEET OUR PRESENTERS

  1. JACOB SCHEPIS (LIVE) -  Jacob is the co-owner of JPS Health & Fitness. For the past 10 years he has actively worked in the industry, where he has helped thousands of individuals improve their strength, body composition and well-being through evidence-based resistance training and nutrition. Taking a scientific based approach to training and diet has enabled Jacob to excel in a variety of sports, including playing VFL, bodybuilding and powerlifting, where he has won multiple state and international titles. Jacobs in the trenches experience as a coach and practitioner has led him to become an educator and mentor of aspiring coaches and fitness enthusiasts, through hosting and contributing to workshops and seminars and the creation of the JPS Online Mentorship course. Having worked in the industry for over 8 years, Jacob’s wealth of knowledge coupled with his experience in the trenches has led him to become one of Melbourne’s most sought out trainers. His role has extended fate beyond working with his beloved clients, to now mentoring aspiring personal trainers, holding workshops and seminars, and writing for the nations personal training governing body, Physical Activity Australia. His motto is simple, whatever the mind can conceive, can be achieved
  2. ERIC HELMS *(Virtual if unable to travel), PhD, CSCS is a nutrition, sport science, and exercise/sport psychology researcher/practitioner with a mission to support the lifting community. He is co-founder and chief science officer for Team 3D Muscle Journey, chief author of the Muscle and Strength Pyramid books, co-founder and contributor to the Monthly Applications in Strength Sport research review, co-host of Iron Culture Podcast, and a Strength & Conditioning Research Fellow in the Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand, at the Auckland University of Technology. He’s coached 100’s of recreational and competitive physique and strength athletes from novice to world champion, published scores of peer-reviewed articles on strength and conditioning, psychology and nutrition as they relate to physique and strength sports, and authored book chapters for strength and conditioning, nutrition, and personal training professionals. In his personal life, Eric is a multi-sport lifter, earning a professional qualification in drug free bodybuilding with the PNBA, and competing in powerlifting, weightlifting, and strongman.
  3. JAKE LINARDON - LIVE-  received his PhD in 2017 and is currently an early career Research Fellow at Deakin University, Melbourne Australia. His research centres around evaluating, implementing, and disseminating a broad range of treatment and prevention approaches for eating disorders. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed research articles, many of which have been published in world-leading psychiatry and clinical psychology journals. He also serves on the editorial board for the International Journal of Eating Disorders. He is the founder of @breakbingeeating, an open access website designed to provide free evidence-based information and self-help strategies for people with eating and body image issues.
  4. JOHN HAWLEY - LIVE - John is currently Director of the Mary MacKillop Institute for Health Research and Head of the Exercise and Nutrition Research Program at the Australian Catholic University, Melbourne, Australia. He has published over 280 scientific manuscripts, written over 100 articles for technical journals and has authored numerous book chapters for exercise biochemistry and sports medicine texts. He currently sits on the Editorial Boards of many international journals including the American Journal of Physiology (Endocrinology and Metabolism), The Journal of Applied Physiology (U.S.A.), The Journal of Sports Sciences (U.K), Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (U.S.A.), Sports Medicine (New Zealand) and The International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism (U.S.A.). The focus of his lab’s work includes the interaction of exercise and diet on skeletal muscle metabolism, the molecular bases of exercise training adaptation and the cellular bases underlying exercise-induced improvements in insulin action. He is a frequently invited speaker at both National and International scientific meetings.
  5. BRAD SCHOENFELD - TELECONFERENCE LIVE - Brad Schoenfeld, PhD, CSCS, CSPS, FNSCA, is an associate professor of exercise science at Lehman College in the Bronx, New York, where he serves as the graduate program director and heads the human performance laboratory. He also currently serves as Sports Nutritionist for the New Jersey Devils hockey organization. Brad has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers on various exercise- and sports nutrition-related topics, and authored the seminal textbook, "Science and Development of Muscle Hypertrophy." He was the recipient of the 2016 Dwight D. Eisenhower Fitness Award, presented by the United States Sports Academy for outstanding achievement in fitness and contributions to the growth and development of sport fitness through outstanding leadership activity, as well as earning the 2018 National Strength and Conditioning Association Young Investigator of the Year Award.
  6. MIKE ISRAETEL - TELECONFERENCE LIVE - Cofounder of Renaissance Periodization, Dr. Mike Israetel holds a PhD in Sport Physiology from East Tennessee State University. Formerly a professor of Exercise and Sport Science in the School of Public Health at Temple University in Philadelphia, Mike has taught several courses, including Nutrition for Public Health, Advanced Sports Nutrition and Exercise, and Nutrition and Behavior. Originally from Moscow, Russia, he has worked as a consultant on sports nutrition to the U.S. Olympic Training Site in Johnson City, TN, and has been an invited speaker at numerous scientific and performance/health conferences worldwide, including nutritional seminars at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY. Mike has coached numerous athletes and busy professionals in both diet and weight training, and is himself a competitive bodybuilder and professional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grappler.

  8. BRANDON KEMPTER- LIVE - Brandon Kempter is the founder of BK conditioning and life time Natural Bodybuilder. He has competed successfully in body building across multiple federations since a teenager, earning his Pro card in 2016 and competing internationally. He has worked in the fitness industry since 2012 and has successfully coached natural athletes from amateur to pro international level. Brandon would be best described as a perfectionist with a passion for the science and application of evidence based nutrition and training relating to body composition manipulation. He is extremely outcome orientated and is committed to getting the best results for his clients through the application of well strategized methodology and creating quality relationships.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? We ask that all attendee's bring a copy of their EventBrite ticket and Photo ID on each day of the event.

What can I bring into the event?  We encourage all attendee's to bring something to write on or take notes with, i.e. pens, laptop (and charger), so you can get the most out of each of the informative presentations. Food and drinks will be provided at MCEC. No external food or drink is permitted at MCEC for health and safety purposes. Please bring food and drink for Day 2 at JPS Health & Fitness.

What's the refund policy?  Due to the nature of this event and the limited tickets available, we are not in a position to offer any refunds. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation regarding this. If you purchase a ticket and are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer the ticket to another individual. To do so, please let us know and provide the incoming attendee's contact details so we can transfer the ticket accordingly.

COVID-19 Refund Policy - In light of Coronavirus and our recent notification to all ticket holders about the date change of the UEBC, ticket holders will be afforded the opportunity to request a refund of their ticket up until June 1st 2020. Thereafter they will be deemed to have accepted the credit for the UEBC 2021 and no refund will be eligible per our original refund policy.
