About this event
Join us at Staffordshire Studio for a night of food and discussion imagining alternative economies and value systems. The evening will entail a four-course meal created by Italian artist duo Eccoci Kitchen, that will allow visitors to eat, explore and talk about food in relation to tradition, seasonality, food ethics and accessibility. Part installation, part workshop, the four courses will be served on bespoke plates, created by local artist George Selley, who’s work interrogates the nature of value within our economies and societies. Food will be used as a vehicle to discuss whether our economy rests on a set of fictions and fabrications, and if so, can we imagine alternative value systems other than financial ones? What might these look like? Are there other principles or standards of behaviour that we consider important for life? If we designed a future without considering the economic viability of our ideas, what would be our priorities? Participants will be encouraged to engage critically with these questions, and a group discussion led by George will entail in between courses. Participants are encouraged to write, draw and doodle on the tablecloth, serving as a document of ideas and outcomes from the meal.
Join us for this playful night of engagement with food; a space for us to come together, share perspectives and imagine our futures into existence. Expect a vegan dinner featuring home-made pickles, a heart-warming soup, succulent vegetable stews and a mouth-watering dessert. (15 places available).
