Event description
Full-fat, calorie-laden, whipped up funk 'n' soul from Scotland's newest R&B supergroup. Are you ready to lay down the grooves?

About this event

Conceived during the Covid pandemic's first lockdown, The Tomorrow Band are a new Scottish-based funk 'n' soul supergroup.

Made up of musicians from established acts, TTB comprise the likes of multi-award-winning jazz musician - Scottish National Jazz Orchestra saxophonist - Konrad Wiszniewski; former Gilles Peterson percussionist, Fraser Heeps; Horse McDonald bassist Lorna Thomas; and Blue Rose Code guitarist Lyle Watt, to name but a few among their ranks.

Supported by Scotland's National Arts Agency, Creative Scotland, it was nothing short of a miracle the group managed to record their lockdown-inspired debut album - Inside/ Outside - across the autumn/ winter of 2020 amid tight restrictions and the cruel curtailing of musicians' careers.

Produced by award-winning songwriter and musician, Hamish Stuart (Average White Band, Chaka Khan, Paul McCartney Band, Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band), two singles from the album - 'Time At Last' and 'Flipside' - were released alongside their accompanying music-videos in Spring 2021.

Launched during this summer's Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival (where the band appeared alongside Stuart), Scottish national newspaper, the Daily Record, described the album as "keeping the funk flame alive", while BBC Radio Scotland referred to their music as "danceable funk and soul at its best".
