Description

How To Engage Faith Leaders on Climate Change

Faith leaders have a huge role to play in society. In their respective places of worship they have access to hundreds if not thousands of people who they can influence. They are relatively respected figures in their communities, whether they are imams, priests, pundits, rabbis or leaders of other faith communities, they play a powerful role in shaping attitudes, opinions and behaviours. Globally and collectively faiths leaders have the potential to bring about positive change especially in tackling climate change.

In their core, faiths are inherently environmental; all faith teachings promote care for creation and the blessings that provide sustenance to mankind, so it has never been more important for faith leaders to reconnect with these teachings and promote action that tackles environmental degradation and mitigates climate change.

This workshop will explore:

  • The influence of faith and faith leaders

  • Challenges that faith leaders face

  • How to influence your own faith leader on issues around climate change

  • Positive case studies

  • Interactive discussions seeking ideas and experience from participants.
