The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage, presented by CAST and Guerilla Opera, is a world premiere one-act opera by composer Elena Ruehr and librettist Royce Vavrek, adapted from the novel by Sydney Padua and with stage direction by Giselle Ty. This comedic new opera features Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage, the true-life unsung inventors of the first computer, in an alternative universe where they successfully use their new invention to “fight crime'“.
The concert features performances by mezzo-soprano Aliana de la Guardia as Ada Lovelace and baritone Aaron Engebreth as Charles Babbage, with tenor Omar Najimi and soprano Erin Matthews, clarinetist Rane Moore, violinist Lilit Hartunian, cellist Stephen Marotto, and co-founding artist and percussionist Mike Williams.
