Textile researchers, companies, and students gather to discuss the sustainable production of textile goods.

About this event

When looking to the future of the textile industry in Rhode Island, where are the opportunities to enter new markets? What do textile companies need to remain competitive and innovative in an environment that is shifting toward sustainable goods and products?

The Textile Sustainability Forum brings industry, academia, and government together to chart the course towards unifying environmental stewardship with business and economic growth. It’s a chance to learn from each other and work together to craft constructive solutions.

The forum will include presentations from URI faculty conducting research in this field, a keynote focused on the trends and ecological changes that are and will continue to impact the textile industry, and a panel featuring textile leaders discussing their efforts to remain competitive and improve their practice of sustainability.

Open to industry, government, faculty, students and staff, the forum also features an opportunity to meet, network and view industry table displays and student poster presentations.

Featured Speakers: Senator Jack Reed, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Representative David Cicilline, Governor Daniel J. McKee, and the University of Rhode Island President, Dr. Marc Parlange.
