THE TEENAGE BRAIN

Featuring New York Times bestselling author Dr. Frances Jensen

87 Mount Vernon Street │ Boston

Tuesday, March 28th at 6 PM

Join us at the Colonial Society of Massachusetts headquarters for a fascinating evening with Dr. Frances Jensen, Professor and Chair of the Neurology Department, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and author of the New York Times bestselling book, The Teenage Brain: A Neuroscientist's Survival Guide to Raising Adolescents and Young Adults.

Dr. Jensen's talk will focus on The Teenage Brain. Motivated by her personal experience of parenting two teenage boys, Dr. Jensen will share what we’ve discovered about the adolescent brain and, in this parent and teenager accessible presentation, will explain how these eye-opening findings not only dispel commonly held myths about the teenage years, but also yield practical suggestions that will help adults and teenagers negotiate the mysterious world of adolescent neurobiology. The program will open with a reception and close with time for Q&A.

In addition to her role as Professor and Chair of the Neurology Department, Dr. Jensen serves as the Co-Director of the Penn Translational Neuroscience Center. Her research focuses on mechanisms of epilepsy and stroke, especially with respect to differences over the lifespan. She received a 2007 Director's Pioneer Award from the NIH and was recently elected to the Academy of Medicine.

Check out NPR's Fresh Air interview with Dr. Jensen and visit the Pennsylvania Gazette to read more about Dr. Jensen's research.
