On stage for the very first time! On Saturday, 13th August, The Technical Difficulties team are bringing Citation Needed -- and a few other things -- to Conway Hall in London for a one-off experimental show, with support from the wonderful Jay Foreman!

We're going to try and record two episodes of Citation Needed with a live audience, answer some questions from you, and maybe try something new as well.

It might be great! It might be a disaster! We've never done a live show before! We have no idea how this is going to turn out.

Doors open at 1pm. Show starts promptly at 2pm, and finishes by 4pm.

Before you book, please read:

The Citation Needed shows you see online are edited down, like a regular TV recording. This will be an unedited, live version: it will include strong language, and may include some offensive jokes and lines that would be cut from a recording. Sometimes our mouths move faster than our brains: don't expect an entirely smooth show, or an entirely all-ages, clean show!

The show, including the audience, will be recorded in photos and in video, and the resulting footage may be used for publication, transmission and broadcast. Attending affirms your consent to the filming and sound recording of yourself as a member of the audience.

FAQs

What's the age limit?

We're restricting this to 14 years and older. We've never done this before, and we don't have to worry that someone's going to bring young kids. There will be strong language and off-colour jokes that would get cut from a regular show!

Is Conway Hall accessible?

Conway Hall has ramp access to the ground floor of the Main Hall. Euan's Guide has good coverage of the hall's accessibility.

We will not be using smoke and strobe. We will be using amplified sound. We regret that a hearing loop is not available.

Will there be an interval?

Yes. Expect a show in two halves.

Will there be food and drink on sale?

No. Bring a bottle of water!

Can I record the show?

Photos are fine! We ask that you not record the show with audio or video: partly because it's being professionally filmed for later upload to YouTube, partly because it's rude to the folks around you, and partly because at some point one of the team is probably going to make a Joke That Should Not Leave The Room!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Either a printed ticket, the barcode on your phone, or a ticket on the Eventbrite app will be fine.

Will the Technical Difficulties team be doing any meet-and-greets?

We'll need folks to clear Conway Hall quickly after the show ends, in order to meet the curfew on our booking. However, if the weather's good and the show hasn't been a complete disaster, we may be able to meet people in the Red Lion Square park afterwards. We can't guarantee this, and any number of things mean it might not happen. Please don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out!

Getting to Conway Hall

By tube: It's an easy walk from Holborn, on the Central and Piccadilly Lines.

By bus: Route 98 comes via Oxford Street and terminates in Red Lion Square. Routes 19, 38, 55 and 243 pass by the Theobalds Road entrance to the Hall. Any bus to Holborn, Grays Inn Road or Southampton Row/Kingsway comes close to Conway Hall.

By bicycle: There is a Cycle Hire docking station on the corner of Red Lion Square and Old North Street. There are two more docking stations on Theobald’s Road and on Red Lion Street.

By car: There is very limited parking in Central London; we strongly recommend you use public transport!
