Event description

Description

A concert by Muskogee’s Swon Brothers continues what has become a holiday tradition for Zach and Colton Swon.

The focus of the Friday concert will be on giving back.

“We’re really excited about coming home and performing,” he said. “We’ve had a busy year burning up the road as our own headliners.”

In addition to hearing the Swon Brothers, attendees at the concert benefiting the Salvation Army of Muskogee will have a couple of special treats, Swon said.

He said the pair are glad to be able to give back to the community through the Salvation Army benefit show again.

“It’s so cool to see how the concert has grown over the years to help out these families who need help so much,” Swon said. “The Salvation Army does a great job there, and we’re thrilled to be a part of helping them out.”

Christy Biggs, who serves on the advisory board of the Salvation Army of Muskogee, is helping organize details of the Swon Brothers concert. She said while the pair’s music career has taken off and they have relocated to Nashville, their family and fans in Muskogee are glad the brother’s remain firmly rooted here.

Tickets are $20 each for general admission and are available at American Bank of Oklahoma, 2401 Chandler Road beginning November 30. Biggs said all ticket sales are cash only at the bank, but she added there is an ATM at the bank if someone needed to get cash. Additionally, tickets are available online at Eventbrite.com

Biggs said the concert has been highly popular in years past with tickets selling out some years.

“We’ve added 50 more seats this year and hope to sell out all 350 tickets,” Biggs said. The popular duo grew up in Muskogee entertaining friends, family and a growing audience of fans, she said.

“We got them to do this concert before they appeared on ‘The Voice,’” Biggs said.

The pair gained national notoriety in 2013 as finalists on NBC’s “The Voice.”

They’ve taken their musical talents to new heights in the years since. The brothers received a CMA Award nomination in 2014 for “Vocal Duo of the Year” and repeated with a similar CMT Music Award in 2015.

Biggs, who has been on local Salvation Army advisory board for seven years, said heading up the annual concert is a blessing for her.

“The Salvation Army holds a place in my heart,” she said. “It’s a faith-based organization and they really do the most good for the community through the love of Christ.”

Biggs said Runt’s BBQ will be offering concessions for concert. Swon said the restaurant is one of his must-stop-by places to eat while in Muskogee.

He said the brothers are looking forward to being home for the Christmas holidays so they can visit with family, friends “and get to eat some of mom’s cooking.”
