SUSPECT, as in "we suspect this work has qualities of greatness." As in looking from the ground up, and not top down. As in "incredulity towards metanarratives" (Lyotard) in favor of microhistories, subversive perspectives, and marginalized identities. SUSPECT is a new journal of Asian writing and art, published by Singapore Unbound. We publish original poetry, fiction, and essays, and highlight noteworthy books and artists through our reviews, interviews, and art direction. We pay our contributors. Enjoy hearing SUSPECT editors and contributors read from their work, and talk to them about publishing in SUSPECT.

Alysha Chandra works across multiple creative fields. She is the Essay Reader for Singapore Unbound’s SUSPECT Journal and a marketing executive for ART SG. Her writing has been published in the Pr&ta Journal. She graduated from Yale-NUS College with an Arts and Humanities degree in 2021.
